How the spiral curriculum works
All students study the same broad mathematical concepts.

The purpose of the programme
Curriculum Intent
The mathematics curriculum at Blackpool Skills Academy develops confident, resilient and independent learners who can apply mathematical knowledge accurately in education, employment and everyday life.
Through a carefully sequenced spiral curriculum, students revisit number, algebra, measures, geometry, statistics, probability and financial mathematics with increasing range, precision, complexity, independence and application.
Mathematics is taught through accessible everyday situations, financial scenarios, vocational projects and practical problem solving. This helps students understand why mathematics matters and how it connects to their future choices.
The curriculum prepares students for Functional Skills, GCSE Mathematics, further education, apprenticeships, employment and independent adult life.
